The Kestrel Design Group, Inc. is a team of professionals.
We work at the intersection of design + science. Many of us are dual degreed - holding bachelor's degrees in a variety of areas including: geology, horticulture, chemistry, environmental science, engineering, planning or biology, followed by a professional or master's degree in landscape architecture, water science, ecology or other.
We were the first company in the upper Midwest to develop green roofs adapted to this climate. We wrote the first draft of the stormwater design guidelines for the State of Minnesota's BBE program, which is Minnesota’s version of LEED. We have created innovative stormwater master plans and forward leaning ecological master plans. We have over 20 national, state and local awards for our work.
We are committed to intellectual pursuit and have a strong relationship with the University of Minnesota. Some of us teach or lecture in Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Horticulture. We approach our work with an intellectual rigor and an emphasis on research. We want to create solutions that advance the field. We are passionate about leaving the landscape in better shape than when we started.
